About John
After growing up in Colorado, I was first introduced to the glass medium
while studying at Pomona College, in Claremont, California, where I received
my BA in Philosophy. While at Pomona, I indulged my interest in art, taking
many art classes including a glass blowing class taught by the renowned
glass artist, Therman Statom. That introduction started me on a path which
lead me to the glass artist, Richard Silver, whose studio was in
Venice, California. I began an apprenticeship with him in 1986 and
worked for Silver for 10 years, full time, assisting and blowing
glass on LA's west side in Venice, Santa Monica, and Inglewood.

In 1996 after living in Venice for 10 years, I founded Moonlight
Glass in a shop space next to Beach Boys Racing on Hampton Drive.
Since I turned my glass furnace on in 1999, I have focused on
improving my craft and exploring new ideas in glass, selling
creations in stores and galleries in California and Colorado. I have
also done multiple commissioned works over the 24 years that I have
been blowing glass. If you are in the Venice area, I encourage you
to visit my studio and showroom where I have more than 300 glass
items for sale. You will find a wide range of glass objects such as
tumblers, martini and shot glasses, Betta fish, hanging lights of
different styles and shapes, fish bowls on lit pedestals,
“wave” platters, my unique candlelit “Moon Light Bowls,” and
much more.
